In His Own Words

It started with being a kid outside

I’ve been drawn to nature for as long as I can remember. As a child I spent most of my days outside, almost mesmerized by the world around me. Insects, plants, rocks, birds, lizards — all of it kept me intrigued by its very existence.

Those early years taught me how connected everything is. How one part of nature links to another, and how all of it reflects the design of the God-given place we live.

As I got older that fascination matured into understanding — wildlife, ecosystems, and the role of stewardship. Caring for land isn’t just maintenance. It’s participation in something bigger. Every experience in one corner of nature pointed me toward another, revealing the connections woven through it.

Later I worked as a landscaper at a nursery. Monday through Saturday, my hands were in soil, plants, and roots. I cared for client yards, installed new landscapes, and watched the seasons pass while tending spaces people trusted me to shape. Digging, planting, bringing order to the land — it felt natural. Almost like continuing the same story I started as a kid.

The fresh air and the movement under the Texas sun still feel like home. It’s where I find peace, where I feel most myself, and where the land reminds me there’s always more going on than a casual glance will ever show.

When I look at a property — its contours, its deep roots, the way wildlife moves through it — I feel a sense of responsibility and awe. There’s a depth there, a reciprocity between land and life. Caring for it isn’t just a job. It’s a calling.

Clear Tarrant is the continuation of everything that started in my childhood — curiosity, connection, responsibility, and the desire to use land wisely for both beauty and function. This is more than landscaping to me. It’s stewardship.

Why The Certification

Native systems are the most honest way to work with this land

“That’s why I chose to get certified in native landscape design. Native plants, native systems, and native stewardship are the most honest way to work with North Texas land. They thrive where they’re meant to, support wildlife, reduce water waste, and create landscapes that feel alive.”

Practically, it changes what ends up in your yard. Instead of installing whatever the wholesale nursery is pushing that season, we build around species adapted to Arlington’s clay soil, its heat, and the rainfall we actually get. Those plants need less irrigation, survive summer watering restrictions without going crisp, and don’t need replacing every other spring.

It’s also why we don’t spray your lawn with herbicides. Building healthy soil and thick turf that crowds weeds out is slower than a chemical program, and it’s the approach that fits what we actually believe about land. More on native landscaping →
